TOKYO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as investor sentiment here was lifted by the U.S. Nasdaq index's overnight rise to a record high.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 128.88 points, or 0.57 percent, from Thursday to 22,867.49.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 7.32 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,791.21.
Pharmaceutical, fishery, agriculture and forestry, and land transportation-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
