On the east coast of Hainan Province in south China, there is a small town named Boao. Since 2001, Boao has been the permanent site of the Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia.
Twenty years after the inaugural event, the forum has become increasingly influential, and is not only a significant conference for Asia, but also the world.
