HELSINKI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Finland has been ranked the best country in the world to visit for wildlife journey, said travel guides publisher Lonely Planet on Tuesday.
The evaluation was based on the Global Wildlife Travel Index 2019 conducted by True Luxury Travel, a UK-based luxury travel agency.
The list took into concern various factors, such as conservation efforts, wildlife biodiversity, the prevalence of national parks and conservation efforts and protected natural areas.
This year, the factors were expanded, and increased focus was given around environmental sustainability, according to Lonely Planet.
The survey ranked Finland as the best destination in the world for wildlife travel, due to the country's high level of environmental sustainability, the unique and varied diversity of species, beautiful natural landscapes and conservation efforts.
It was mentioned that the country has 39 national parks, and more than 73 percent of its land is covered with forest.
True Luxury Travel has chosen the best nature travel destination for the second time since 2018.
Over 100 countries and regions were included in the Global Wildlife Travel Index 2019. Among the top 10 countries, Finland was followed by Sweden, Brazil, Canada and the United States, Norway, Spain, Germany, Poland and Slovenia. Enditem
