RAMALLAH, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas paid on Thursday condolences to Tunisia for the death of its president Beji Caid Essebsi, and declared a three-day mourning in the Palestinian territories.
Abbas announced during a Palestinian leadership meeting held at his headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah that he will head to Tunisia and officially participate in the funeral of Essebsi.
He also declared during the meeting a three-day mourning and half-masting of the Palestinian flags on the official establishments of the state of Palestine in the Palestinian territories and all over the world.
"The Arab and Islamic nations, the Tunisia and the state of Palestine as well as humanity have lost today a leader, a fighter and the brother Beji Caid Essebsi, the successor of late President Habib Bourguiba," said Abbas.
Abbas said that Tunisia has a special position in the Palestinians' hearts and the Palestinian leadership. Enditem
