BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ahead of the forthcoming Spring Festival, several mainland officials visited and expressed their best wishes to compatriots of Taiwan who reside, work and study on the mainland.
Liu Jieyi, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, visited Taiwan-funded companies in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, exchanged views with compatriots in Taiwan, and extended cordial greetings and best wishes for the Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year.
Liu pledged that they would, as always, do practical things for compatriots of Taiwan, and provide more convenience for them to study, live, start businesses and find jobs on the mainland.
He also said that they would continue to provide the same treatment for Taiwan-funded companies as local ones in terms of investment and conducting business on the mainland.
During the meetings, compatriots from Taiwan talked about their work, study and life on the mainland, and expressed their firm confidence in continuing to develop on the mainland.
