NAIROBI, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Kenya will join five other nations in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League tournament in Muscat, Oman in November.
Other teams to feature include hosts Oman (fifth in the 2018 World Cricket League Division Two), Uganda (winner of 2018 Division Four), Denmark (runner-up in 2018 Division Four), Singapore (third in 2017 Division Three), the United States (fourth in 2017 Division Three) and Kenya (sixth in 2018 Division Two).
Cricket Kenya hopes its national team will use the event to affirm their steady improvement in the competition.
Tariq Iqbal, from Cricket Kenya's Management Committee, said the team is ready for the challenge and named Collins Obuya as the new captain, replacing Shem Obado.
"Obuya is a leader and an all-rounder. He is the best person to lead the team into the future," said Iqbal.
Rookies Jasraj Kundi and Gerald Mwendwa have also been dropped from the team with their places taken by the experienced Lucas Oluoch and Elijah Otieno.
The six-nation tournament, played over 50 overs, will run from November 7 to 21 in Muscat. The top two teams at the end of the single round-robin stage will qualify for the ICC World Cricket League Division Two to be held in 2019.
The tournament will also form part of the road to the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Enditem
