TUNIS, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Two civilians were killed late Monday by a landmine planted by terrorists in a military zone in Kasserine province in western Tunisia, the Tunisian Ministry of Defense said Tuesday.
The victims were two brothers who were riding on a light truck, the ministry said in a statement.
"It is strictly forbidden to enter closed military areas, in order to save inhabitant lives from the danger of landmine explosion, planted by terrorists," the statement said.
Tunisian authorities said that dozens of terrorists, belonging to the al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb Organization and Islamic State, have been hidding in the mountains in Kasserine province, and in areas in northwestern Tunisia close to the Algerian borders.
These terrorists have planted hundreds of landmines to prevent the advance of the army and security forces, which leading to the death of dozens of military, security agents as well as civilians.
